2015 – A Year Of Street Art In Shoreditch

This morning in our series of reviews of the year we are taking a look back at Shoreditch, which alongside the adjoining area of Brick Lane, make up the epicentre of London’s Street Art scene. An area that is a must visit destination for tourists and enthusiasts alike, and whilst there you will regularly pass Street Art tours and countless people stopping to admire or just fleetingly snap the artworks that are in abundance.

Highlights of the year in Shoreditch, would have to be Mehdi Ghadyanloo’s visit in February, the Femme Fierce takeover of the Shoreditch Art Wall in March, Phlegm painting the Red Gallery in March, Captain Kris’s Birthday Paint Jam in May, Joel Bergner painting the Village Underground in September, Louis Masai painting Rich Mix for Synchronicity Earth in September, the ‘Behind The Curtain’ competition, the results of the MXUK2015 tour and of course the access to the wonderful Jealous Rooftop Mural Project.

A vast portion of the rotating works in the area are facilitated through the work of Global Street Art, with the area providing the hub of their ongoing Walls Project. However this isn’t to say they are the sole providers of spaces for walls in the area and there has been a near proliferation of steady changing works throughout the year. So without further ado, here is our look back at the wonderful year of Street Art in Shoreditch from 2015.

  1. Once again, another great blog reminding us of the amazing year we’ve had in this city. I’ve discovered new parts of London too, the Brockley Street Art Festival was an excellent example of how the art we love is moving into new areas too. Keep up the good work, thanks!

    • Thanks for the kind words Spike. Well said, South London has picked up with the Brockley Street Art Festival and Croydon. We will keep up the good work, with help from kind folks like yourself. Cheers.
