New Abraham.O Street Art at Clock House

For our next post we are taking a look at an incredible work placed up by Salvodoran born Street Artist Abraham.0 who is currently staying in London for our SprayExhibition20 Community Street Art Project around Penge and Anerley – and in this case just over the border at Clock House, between Penge and Beckenham.

This makes for the sixth work Abraham.O has painted in South-East London over the last few months – we have already shared the first four in our blog post (covered here) and we shall be looking at the fifth work on here soon. What makes this one different from the previous works this artist has painted in London is that this was painted with black and white masonry paint via a mini-roller on a pole and a brush – using just a couple of spray cans in the mix – as opposed to entirely with spray paint. This means whilst the subject and colour palette is in-keeping with the artist’s distinctive realistic grey-scale portraiture, the use of a roller and brush makes for a far more textured piece, we particularly love the small sections of brick work left bare in the portrait and all the dripping down the wall.

This striking work depicts Ada Portilo a lady of Salvadoran origin who emigrated to London 43 years ago and dedicates part of her time to buying food in super markets and donates it to immigrants and homeless people, Of which she has been recognised by the mayor of Chelsea and Kensington. All round this work is absolutely stunning and exudes such a warm soulful vibe, really bringing this dark bridge wall to life. It is also a really fun wall to photograph, which is why there are so many photos below.

We of course wish to say a massive thank you to the local resident who made this happen and got us involved. As well as a thank you to Network Rail who kindly donated a spot and trusted us to work it. As well as offering a really big thank you to Abraham.O for visiting the area to once again support this initiative and for leaving such an absolutely beautiful series of artworks in the process. The work below is located at Beckenham Road Tram Stop just along from Clock House and just outside of Penge and was put up with support from ourselves London Calling Blog and Street Art Atlas. Shout out to Kevin for the help and M_Frenchi for the connection.
