New Fanakapan Street Art in Penge

Next up in our lengthy run of catching up with what we have been up to in our corner of South-East London over the recent few months we are taking a look at an absolutely amazing work from street artist Fanakapan placed up last month in Penge for our SprayExhibition20 community street art project. This work is the third time Fanakapan has painted in Penge, having painted one of the first walls for the project back in 2016 and again in 2019. This is also the first time Fanakapan has dropped some of his trademark balloons in SE20 with this incredible piece featuring Sesame Street character Oscar the Grouch holding a perfectly chosen sad face balloon. So when offered a spot partially obscured with bins, Fanakapan chose to play into the obstruction, rather than work around it, something this artist is particularly adept at doing – as we will see soon when we look at the second addition to SE20 from Fanakapan from the last month or so. All round this is an absolutely first class work that suits it location perfectly.

We of course wish to say a massive thank you to the owners of the space who kindly donated a spot and trusted us to work it. As well as a massive thank you to Fanakapan for coming back to the area to again support this initiative and for leaving another excellent artwork in the process. Last but by no means least big thank you to Kevin and Street Art Atlas for all the help around this spot. This stunning work can be found in Evelina Road, Penge, and was put up with support from ourselves London Calling Blog.
