This evening in our series of reviews of the last year we are going to take a look back at the year of Street Art and Graffiti in Brixton and the Stockwell Hall of Fame. Brixton has long been a place with little pockets of Street Art coming and going, albeit nothing on the scale of areas such as Shoreditch, Camden or Bethnal Green, but somewhere certainly worth a visit for Street Art enthusiasts. For those more interested in Graffiti the Stockwell Hall of Fame is a must visit location, admittedly we didn’t start visiting the Stockwell Hall of Fame regularly until the second half of 2015, however we can say that we will be visiting more consistently, as in terms of legal painting walls around London, this place attracts the very best in quality Graffiti.
It has been an interesting year around Brixton for Street Art and Graffiti, largely the result from a few key events, namely the Save Brixton Arches campaign, organized by PINS, which through a series of Paint Jams along the Brixton Station arches set to create a delightful gallery of works, put up to display a sense of unity among the local tenants set to be evicted by National Rail in upcoming redevelopments in the area. Urban Art Brixton, organized by Mr Cenz, also brought some fantastic works, both permanent murals and short-term works for the paint festival, really leaving it’s mark in the area. The Stockwell Hall of Fame is very much one of those places where luck is key in terms of what state you find works in, however with regular visits you will start to see some really impressive pieces of Graffiti, especially in the summer months. So without further ado here is a year of London Calling Blog visits to Brixton & Stockwell through 2015.

Superb work by Zina in Brixton for Save Brixton Arches. This was the first shutter painted as part of the Save Brixton Arches campaign to show solidarity against plans by Network Rail who intend to evict the current long-standing tenants to make way for higher end chain stores through redevelopment, this project saw some great works brought to Brixton along the rail arches over the next month or two. I am loving all your posts about 2015. I have only just discovered your blog and I am finding it fascinating.
I have a couple images that I am trying to find out who the artists are. I am using them in a piece of work for my City & Guilds in Textiles and would like to credit where possible. I took both these images around the Brick Lane area a few months ago. It would be fab if you could help, I have had a look through your site but not spotted them yet.
