A Free Street Art Guide To Penge & Anerley

Seeing as our SprayExhibition20 Street Art Community Project in Penge and Anerley (SE20) has thus far exceeded our wildest expectations and there are now some 165 artworks to be seen around the area we thought we would put together a free Street Art Guide to Penge and Anerley. This walk will take you about 4-5 hours (depending how long you stop to admire the artwork and take photos along the way) and starts a short walk from either Penge East or Anerley Station – If arriving in Anerley start the tour at step 8 and follow through. If arriving at Crystal Palace start at step 10 and follow round from there. Our walk begins and ends at Penge East Station, where the art trail commences as soon as you leave the station and can be completed in 20 easy steps. We would also suggest taking the tour on a Sunday in order to have the best chance of catching the dozen or so shutters that have been painted down and in all their glory.

1: Exit Penge East Station and turn left into St Johns Road where the Street Art trail begins with a set of works by Artista, Chinagirl Tile, Alice Pasquini & Glor.

  1. Absolutely beautiful love love love them makes Penge beautiful thank u all u artists x

  2. Well done, what you’ve achieved in Penge is fantastic. I’ve enjoyed watching the artists and exploring SE20. It’s even better now I know that Penge East is only 12 minutes from Brixton…….

  3. I’m never likely to follow this route on the ground but enjoyed the virtual tour, thanks. An impressive variety of styles and themes.

  4. We bumped into you earlier today just as we were coming up Maple Street doing this tour. Saw almost everything here, this blog post was essential!

    • Hey, we met by Aspire’s Bluejay in Maple Road? Thanks for the kind comments, always nice to hear the guide is useful. We update it with each new work added to town.

  5. I’ve seen a couple of these by accident and didn’t realise there were so many. Absolutely brilliant.

  6. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE all the street art in Penge, which gives the area such character. It has been an exciting development over the last few years to watch the paintings appear. I have been exploring them systematically during the coronavirus lockdown in March-June 2020. Whenever I post my photos of them on the Penge Tourist Board Facebook site, I always get about 100 likes for each post, so that shows how much other people in the area appreciate them too. Some people have said that they have adapted their walking routes to take in paintings they have not seen before.
My personal favourites are the glorious bird paintings by Aspire, the magnificent jaguar by JXC and the spectacularly coloured and subtly shaded portraits and scenes by Mr Cenz, Zina and Dan Kitchener, but I love all the bold shapes and vibrant colours of other artists like Hunto, Sky High, Aero and DRT as well.
