Last week in the East End Street Artists Sam Cox aka The Doodle Man and Sam King painted the four panels comprising the Shoreditch Art Wall along Great Eastern Street, with The Doodle Man painting the first three panels and Sam King painting the fourth and final panel. This combination of artists here certainly made for a diverse pairing with The Doodle Man painting his distinct ‘doodle’ like chaotic images, creating a scene of innocent fun, and Sam King painting a beautiful portrait, creating a spiritual aura which is a stark contrast to the sense of whimsy in The Doodle Man’s work. Sam King’s work ‘Eastern Symbolism’ is certainly a striking piece, blending elements from Hindu Mandala and the Sri Yantra, expressed through the female form and presented in a style of geometric fueled futurism. Unsurprisingly the pair spent a few days at work on their respective sections of the wall and unfortunately as of yesterday the works were set to be replaced by the next works or adverts to appear on this spot.
