This is a post we having been waiting to post for some time, yesterday marked one year since our first visit to Leake Street, in which time we have seen many great pieces and missed many also, so we thought we would share a selection of the highlights we have been fortunate enough to catch intact over the last twelve months.
Leake Street is London’s premier legal Graffiti location, located in the Old Vic tunnels beneath Waterloo Station, made famous as a result of Banksy’s CANS Festivals and has since gone on to become host to such premier events in the Street Art calendar as Femme Fierce and The Battle of Waterloo. No other place in London offers such a high turnover of fresh works, with several new pieces to be spied daily. It is quite rare in fact to pass through and not find at least someone painting on their newest work. Some visits are more interesting than others, but it is rare to pass through and not find something new to catch your eye, so without further ado here is a year of London Calling Blog visits to Leake Street.

I was there today (24/10/2015) to see the friends of Ben Naz mark the 1st anniversary of his death. Lots of painting going on… I’ve been going to Leake Street ever since the Banksy Cans Festival. Sadly I don’t see the quality of artwork as being that good these days and of course the walls change daily with the influx of folks wanting to paint and tag. Trying to get good shots of most of the artwork is tough due to the lighting…
Shame ot have missed you Mitch, we were there for the Ben Naz event and to catch Psychodoodlz finish their epic feat. As for visiting Leake Street it is certainly a hit and miss piece with a major sense of highs and lows as to what you find, or more so for the state in which you find it. That said Leake Street offers opportunities to artists like no other location in London and for that it should commended. Lastly yeah the lighting can be an absolute nightmare for trying to get decent snaps, can be most frustrating when do find something spectacular.
Was Psychodoodlz painting the Jekyll & Hyde? Lots of scaffolding there for the roof!!
Yeah they painted that part, the ceiling looks great, not many new firsts you see in Leake Street anymore so good to witness that one.
Very Black & White indeed!!!
