First up in our look back at 2021 we thought we would take a look back at what we have proactively organised and been up to about South-East London this last year. So where to begin really, ultimately we are exceptionally privileged to have been able to have been involved in organizing some 93 artworks – 40 of them on brand new spots – with artists old and new around London, hitting up walls in Penge, Anerley, Crystal Palace, Forest Hill, Sydenham, Beckenham down South, and Finsbury Park for our first ever spot organised in North London.
Our SprayExhibition20 project around Penge and Anerley has started to gain quite the reputation, as it is now the biggest Street Art project in London with over 180 artworks currently running. As a result we have been interviewed for and the subject of features on BBC News and in the South London Press over the last few months. The links for both of these features are located at the end of this post.
We and Street Art Atlas also released our SprayExhibition20 – The Street Art of Penge and Anerley book. We are delighted to say it was well worth the time and effort and sold exceptionally well, raising some £5,000 for St Christopher’s Hospice (we will be working out the final figure once all books have been received and donating the total money raised then) – as well as the £322.50 we raised for the hospice on our Street Art tour with Street Art Atlas and Colossive Press to launch the book.
Beyond ourselves and Street Art Atlas putting this all together, this was all made possible with the selfless help of a few good friends. Firstly Penge based independent publishing team Colossive Press who helped with us getting this together. A significant chunk of the money raised was entirely down to Dotmaster who generously donated 10 handmade artworks he spent two days making, which has resulted in £2,000 of the sum being raised. Irony and Street Art Atlas also put together a print of the cover photo and raised £975 of the total sum. Massive thanks to both Dotmaster and Irony for their generosity around this endeavour. Well done to everyone involved, we can’t believe it finally come together and between all of us we managed to raise such a good sum.
As is always the case we couldn’t do what we do here without the help we receive from the good friends we have made along the way and this last year was as true as ever with the amount of walls we are asked to paint gradually expanding. It is only with the invaluable help some people selflessly provide to do whatever it takes to make street art appear around London and often don’t get the credit they deserve.
Firstly thank you to all the artists for coming down to paint spaces big and small to brighten up walls around the city. Secondly thank you to all the businesses’ as well as to all the residents for donating spaces to let the artists work their magic. South-East London wouldn’t be looking so good without all your trust, support and time. A big thank you to New Art Rioter for all the help with everything behind the scenes.

Big thank you to Kevin for all the help with ladders, buffing and running around Penge and Anerley so that walls can be painted and people can enjoy it. Big shout out and thank you to Street Art Atlas for all the help throughout the year from buffing walls to driving artists around town. We are exceptionally grateful to both Kevin and Street Art Atlas for constantly going above and beyond to help the artists and ourselves out around SE20, a lot of what has been achieved about town by ourselves this last year has been made possible and so much easier through Kevin’s and Street Art Atlas’s selfless help to the project!

Thank you to Jane and Tom at Colossive Press for all the help with the tour we conducted in November. We would like to say a big thank you to Community Magazine SE20 for allowing us to share the art of Penge and Anerley with the town in their superb publication – which has led to people providing us more spaces to paint. Thank you to M_Frenchi for sending such talented artists our way when they visit London. Thank you to Ninja Boy Runs for helping us out with book deliveries.

As well as thank you to everyone who lives local or has visited SE20 or anywhere else we have facilitated artwork for taking the time to come down to experience and share some of the work we have been doing in our local area to the wider world. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time whilst the artists have been about painting our spots to take the time to say something nice about the art they created for us to enjoy.
