Here we are taking a look at a recent fantastic addition to South-East London by Salvodoran Street Artist Abraham.0 for our SprayExhibition20 Community Street Art Project around Penge a few weekends ago. This striking work features the artist’s own brand of grey-scale realism focused portraits exemplifying the artist’s Latin American heritage and roots. Titled Historian this piece features a male subject in traditional dancing attire for the dance of the history of the Moors and Christians – or Historians – which is presented in El Salvador and other Latin American nations. This dance was presented by the Iberian conquerors during the colonization of the Americas during the 16th century as a means of demonstrating the power of virtues of a Christian God.
We of course wish to say a massive thank you to the generous space owner who kindly donated a this lovely wall and trusted us to work it. As well as offering a really big thank you to Abraham.O for visiting the area again to support this initiative and for leaving such a beautiful series of artworks in the process. The incredible work below can be found in Lucas Road and was put up with support from ourselves London Calling Blog. Huge thanks to Kevin and Street Art Atlas for all the help in the cold weather on this wall. Big thank you to M_Frenchi for the connection.
