New Alo Street Art in Penge

Next up in our run of catching up with what we have been up to in our corner of South-East London over the recent few months we are taking a look at a fantastic pair of works from artist Alo placed around Penge for our SprayExhibition20 community street art project.

This was the first time we have had the pleasure of having Alo visit SE20 to leave some of his art – which we have long admired when spied up East London – and it is most interesting to see Alo scale up the size of his public works over the last year. The artists work feature his own brand of urban expressionist abstract portraiture based on subjects including real people Alo observes on the streets, people from the media as well as mythical creatures, setting to examine their role in society, Creating his public artworks using a combination of brushes, acrylic and mixed media, mixing painting with a mixed media technique. These two recent works also mark the first time we have had the opportunity to see Alo craft his pieces and we have to say it only makes us admire the attention to detail that goes into Alo’s works.

We of course wish to say a massive thank you to the owners of the spaces who kindly donated a spot and trusted us to work it. As well as a really big thank you to Alo for coming to the area to support this initiative and for leaving such a beautiful pair of artworks for the town to enjoy.
