Next up in our series of reviews of the last year we are going to be looking back at some of the key areas for a high turnover of Street Art around London, and are starting with our review of Brick Lane and Shoreditch. Whilst still the epicentre of London’s Street Art scene, and an area that has played host to some incredible artworks this year, this area like many is seeing so much change and spaces once painted are increasingly disappearing. The saddest thing to happen this year in the area is the creative hub that was the Nomadic Community Gardens sadly closing ahead of the upcoming redevelopments set to consume this area, fortunately the site went out in style with the Graffestival put on by EndOfTheLine. Another increasingly sad sight to see in the area is that several big walls once featuring brilliant artworks are now used for advertising, with more of such walls heading to such a fate. All in all we have been witness to a steady flow of works from local and international artists which continues to keep this area engaging for Street Art fans. So without further ado, here is our look back at the wonderful year of Street Art in Brick Lane and Shoreditch from 2019.

Do we know where exactly in Shoreditch these paintings are? I would like to go and see them.
Hi Alison, apologies in the delay to a reply. Virtually all of the artworks in this post have been replaced or the spots are gone. However if go to Brick Lane/Shoreditch check out our Street Art guide to Brick Lane – it’s outdated with specific pieces, but shows all the main spots to visit. As for Shoreditch there are few main hubs anymore as the whole are is being redeveloped. But Holywell Lane is still well worth a visit.
