The ‘Bring It On Home’ Paint Jam in Penge

Well it has taken us sometime to process all this, but at the the turn of the new year we here at London Calling Blog were privileged enough to get to celebrate three years of running the blog with many of the friends we have made over the last year, artists and photographers alike, with The ‘Bring It On Home’ Paint Jam in our hometown of Penge. So it was with extreme delight we were honored to spend our three year anniversary with 26 artists painting some 30 spots across properties belonging to 17 different owners across town over the weekend. Seriously we can’t thank you enough, we had the most amazing time with you all.

We have to say 2017 was an amazing year for us so it was only right that such a good year on the scene was finalized with another Paint Jam, the perfect way to conclude last year and start this one. The weekend saw some 26 artists most kindly show up for us and paint, and in the process treated us, our fellow photographer friends and the local community of Penge to an impressive array of styles and techniques displayed throughout the town which was treated to a fresh coat of paint with works ranging from from portraiture and characters to Graffiti and Abstract imagery, with artists painting by spray can as well as by brush, producing free hand and stencil works, there really was a bit of everything on display.

We are fairly certain all those involved would agree that a fun time was had by all who came along. It was a great weekend with much positive energy, conversation and humour all punctuated of course primarily by the magnificent array of artworks large and small which were created. As is often the case we couldn’t do what we do without the help we receive from the artists and friends we have made along the way and for this weekend we would like to say thanks to firstly all the artists who took part in the weekend, all at their own expense we might add. All of what we do here is for the love of Street Art and we are flattered and feel honoured that so many artists would turn out and paint for us again, all the more satisfying for us n this occasion as we get to enjoy the results of which every day. it wasn’t us that made this weekend so much fun, but everyone that came along and supported by painting, observing and enjoying the incredible playground with which was ours for this wonderful weekend. We would like to say a big thank you to all the supportive and indulgent space owners – residential and business – about Penge who very much all helped make the Paint Jam go as smooth as did. Big shout out to Kevin and Molly as well as Lawrence and Ben for all the help with ladders and everything else. Massive thanks to our dear friends Street Art Atlas and M_Frenchi for coming by the week before the jam in the freezing cold to help buff some large spots we couldn’t deal with in time on our own. Additionally to everyone else who turned out and spent the weekend with us enjoying the art and atmosphere, great to see so many of you through the weekend and share the moment (again), it was a pleasure for us very much and we hope to see you all next time – props to Pistoja who was visiting from Switzerland and left the artists with a stack of luxurious chocolate that saved the day for a few of the artists painting, most generous.

Without further ado we hope you enjoy the images from the weekend, there are many, but we feel the weekend deserves it with the high number of high quality pieces produced. Thank You all.
