A couple of weekends back saw Penge receive the 15th piece of Street Art to hit the SE20 area as part of our ongoing SprayExhibition20 community project, with this incredible piece by Dan Kitchener entitled ‘Jam’, depicting as the title suggests a traffic jam based on original photos by Dan Kitchener taken in East London created in his distinct and personal ‘Liquid Lights’ style.
Meticulous in his work Dan Kitchener built up the piece applying the spray paint in a series of direct solid bursts as well as adding the many colours in a more loose, fluid and energetic manor that culminates in what you will see below. The sense of depth in this work is truly gripping, really making the viewer feel as if they could step into this wall and wander around this colourful and flowing depiction of an all so familiar setting, rainy old London. The focus of the painting is on the Mercedes turning in the right corner lit up by the rear cars headlights and from there the work just travels into the wall, stunning.
We would like to say thanks to the kind team at Penge DIY in Croydon Road for their support to our project, allowing us to get Dan Kitchener to add something so beautiful to their property. We also would like to offer a big thanks to Dan Kitchener for coming down to add this delightful work which really brightens up this road. This stunning work can be found in Evelina Road, Penge.

The superb finished piece, completed in some 5 hours.
Extreme close-up which offers a glimpse in the some of Dank’s painting style, with the drip effect created by direct solid bursts of the spray can, surrounded by the more loose and fluid red mist effect from the more casual and flowing application of paint.
Reflections of Dan Kitchener’s reflections.
It looked for a moment that this car was going to smash into the wall as followed the path of Dan Kitchener’s traffic scene.
Just love Dan Kitchener
And the lady with umbrella mysteriously disappeared from the left part of the wall 🙂
