Over the course of Monday & Tuesday French Street Art legend Thierry Noir painted this large-scale mural in Wallis Road, Hackney Wick ahead of his exhibition ‘Jazz’ set to open tomorrow at the Howard Griffin Gallery. Thierry Noir who is credited in art history as the first artist to start painting large works on the Berlin Wall in 1984, and proceeded to paint on it virtually every day for the next six years, at a time when such expressions of ‘freedom’ where completely forbidden, laid out this work on the front of the warehouse in Wallis Road depicting his trademark cartoon-like profile characters set to a basic and bright colour palette, in a work that is immediately and undeniably Thierry Noir.
