Patrick Murphy’s ‘Unexpected Guest’ Pigeons In Soho Square

The other evening while on route to a show, we stumbled across these colourful plastic pigeons Patrick Murphy has put up a a part of the ‘Unexpected Guest‘ project with the Sim Smith Gallery. The idea is that Patrick Murphy’s pigeons represent those banished from city centres and branded as nuisances, setting to draw a parallel to questions pertaining to attitudes on homelessness in urban environments, showing in this colourful display that themes of ownership, being accepted or marginalised in society be it any group setting to find a natural home or acceptance in society.
