New Joel Artista Street Art in Penge

During the summer, London received a visit from American street artist Joel Artista, who painted his first work in the city since 2015. Taking to Penge, this artist who paints large-scale murals – often with active local community engagement – the world over, took a relatively small wall by his standards and nonetheless made excellent use of the wall available. This striking piece is part of a series of works the artist is working on which looks at the concept of home and what it means from individual to individual. In this case we have a South-East London child depicted with his home on his back – as wherever you go, home in some for is always with you – which features his family in the detail. What is also exceptionally impressive about this work is how the artist layered the piece, executing each layer with perfect first time precision. We assure you the pictures don’t do this delicate and warming piece justice. An absolute pleasure to see this artist paint in London and we hope it isn’t too long before we see him return to London to share his creative talent. The stunning work below was placed up in Raleigh Road, Penge, with support from London Calling Blog for SprayExhibition20.
