New Aspire Street Art in Penge

For this blog post we are taking a look at the second large-scale addition to Penge’s street art scene completed at the beginning of the new year by the prolific artist Aspire. Despite the cold weather Aspire completed this lovely piece early in the year, making excellent use of the raw brick wall with this wonderful pair of magpies. What we love most about this work is that it was designed and created to be seen from two positions, making for two different paintings. From the street it appears as if the magpies are sat along the fence in front, however when you become slightly elevated you realise they are in fact perched upon a branch hidden behind the offence. There is also a little invisible bonus feature in the form of a piece of stolen golden jewelery engraved with the number 667 – a nod to this piece marking the 667th artwork placed up in the town for the project over the previous nine years. The striking work below was placed up in Penge Lane, Penge, with support from London Calling Blog for SprayExhibition20.
