This evening we are taking a look at a superb recent addition to the canal running through Hackney Wick by Street Artist EPOD. It has been some time since we made over to Hackney Wick and we are delighted to see there are still a number of paiting spots for Street Art and Graffiti amid the immense amount of redevelopments that have taken place, and are still going on, in this once artistically vibrant little corner of Hackney. In this striking work titled ‘MARS I’ EPOD masterfully fuses photo-realistic portraiture, in this instance of a female subject, with geometry and a minimalist background to create a piece so very rich in substance. We have long admired this artist’s work online but this is the first time we have had the pleasure and privilege of gazing upon it in person and it really didn’t disappoint. We hope it isn’t to long before we get to see some more work from this artist, but in the meantime this work can be enjoyed along the canal in Hackney Wick, just past the bridge that takes you over on to Fish Island.
