Next up in our long run of catching up with what we have been up to in our corner of South-East London over the recent few months we are taking a look at a fantastic work from street artist Dan Kitchener placed up a couple of months ago in Penge for our SprayExhibition20 community street art project.
Taking to Evelina Road, Dan Kitchener repainted a spot he first painted four years ago on what was one of the very first walls donated to the project. Certainly making for an interesting case of seeing how Dan Kitchener’s ‘Liquid Lights’ creations have evolved over the years as he continues to define his expressive style, for his updated work on this spot, For this work titled ‘Tokyo Dreams’ Dan Kitchener maintained his distinctive Japanese inspired street scenes featuring cars and people walking in the rain – though this time these are more part of the background as centre-stage is devoted to a striking geisha and samurai portrait with the whole scene punctuated by a series of throw-up tags from the artist. This wall certainly features a little of everything from Dan Kitchener.
We of course wish to say a massive thank you to the owners of the space who kindly donated a spot and trusted us to work it. As well as a really big thank you to Dan Kitchener for coming back to the area to support this initiative and for leaving such a vibrant and beautiful artwork in the process.
