A few months ago London was fortunate enough to receive a fresh visit from Austrian artist HNRX who took the time to work his own brand of comic-surrealism setting to transmit a sense of fun and joy, presenting a series of surreal scenes full of humour comprising objects the artist simply enjoys that make HNRX’s Universe of Everyday Objects. It was interesting to note on this recent trip to London from HNRX how the artist has further progressed from using less spray paint in his output to entirely using emulsion applied through a combination of mini-rollers and brushes to create these fantastic works which now take on a more painterly and richly textured dynamic than the work we first became acquainted with this artist through. For this recent pair of additions to South-East London HNRX went with a sea food vibe with a contorted fish set in side a broken bottle and glass jar in Selhurst and returning his giant shrimp subject to Anerley Hill, a nod to the fantastic large-scale work he placed up in Penge a couple of years ago. We of course have to say a massive thank you to CASSA as well as a big thank you to the team at Network Rail for supporting such initiatives and all their help on this project and for both having trusted the artists to do what they do best by giving them free reign to do their thing for the community to enjoy. As well as a really big THANK YOU to HNRX for coming to down to support the projects we run in SE20 and in Selhurst and for leaving such a fun pair of artworks in the process.
