Last week London was treated to a whistle-stop visit from Mau Mau, though British, someone we haven’t seen paint in London for some time now, who fortunately left us with two delightful works in Camden Town. As ever both works feature his trademark mischievous and fun loving Fox character, the hero of his scenes offering up his views on a number of social and environmental issues in his oh so humourous, sarcastic and at times rude works. Both of these fantastic works were put up with support from The Real Art of Street Art.
Work by Mau Mau atop of work by DRT in Castlehaven Road, Camden Town.
Wise words from Mau Mau with “It Ain’t Where You From…Its Where You At…” an ever cheeky piece with its peaceful look at the current global refugee crisis.
By far the favourite of our two recent works from Mau Mau in Camden Town placed up in Greenland Place and painted in support of the attempt to prevent Fabric nightclub from closure. The fun-fueled work depicts Mau Mau’s trademark Fox standing dismayed afronted by the police – depicted as pigs – closing the night club accompanied by a sign stating that “Fun, Dancing, Music, Culture and Mau Mau” are all cancelled.
