On Sunday we here at London Calling Blog were delighted to have Street Artist Zina come down to Penge to add what is currently the tenth fresh work in the area, with SE20’s first portraiture mural. Making for the sixth work placed up in Maple Road, Zina certainly made an impact on passers-by with this stunning and soulful portrait entitled ‘Spiritual Spice’ which was painted over some six hours. Considering the nature of the premises on which the work would reside Zina very aptly went with this Caribbean styled subject, depicting a striking blue-scale male portrait surrounded by the heavenly clouds and back lit by the beautiful purples and yellows that denote the spiritual fire which presides within our lives, The work is so life-like and despite the cold tones in the palette the piece just exudes so much warmth. This piece is really absorbing and has very much made a fantastic addition to the SE20 area.
We would like to say a big thanks to the kind staff at the Reggae Spice for their their support in allowing us to get Zina to add something so beautiful to their premises. We also would like to offer a big thanks to Zina for coming down and providing Penge with its first public portrait work. We couldn’t be happier with the latest addition to SprayExhibition20 for us and the local SE20 community.
