The Nomadic Community Gardens Turns One Year Old

As hard as it is to believe last Monday marked the one year anniversary of the opening of the Nomadic Community Gardens kicked off with the Greenhouse Effect Paint Jam (covered here). Over the last year a beautifully inspired community project has been born and seems to be gaining more and more momentum as the months pass, all through the diligent and impressive work from the 1 Love Community. By developing a system of raised vegetable beds, the project is setting to utilize unused spaces or those awaiting development in order to use this spot as a place in the city for the local and diverse community to grow food, share knowledge and skills, build relations and care for their environment, all the while taking pride in their area offering places for people to relax, enjoy art or grab a bite to eat at the Roving Cafe.

In addition to this the location has offered itself up as one of the premier locations to see Street Art, providing a whole host of walls, setting to take this place to the high end of places that are essential to keep tabs on in London. We covered the Greenhouse Paint Jam held in the gardens some eight months back which saw the area receive its freshest incarnation as a Street Art venue (covered here), since then the Gardens have played host to the fantastic Meeting Of Styles event (covered here).

This place is certainly always a pleasure to visit, somewhere with a charm and atmosphere of its own, offering a quiet corner of creativity and serenity in this little corner of East London. So without further ado, here is our look back at the wonderful year of Street Art in the Nomadic Community Gardens.

One comment on “The Nomadic Community Gardens Turns One Year Old

  1. That’s quite a collection of a years life in the Nomadic Community Gardens you have made Stuart…. I was there last Saturday for a short spell as they were setting up for the birthday celebrations.. I also remember a year back when the gardens first sprang into growth… Still gives me pleasure on each visit.. The Annalisa Mandia tyre sculptures are just so clever in their design and they always catch my eye.. I just never tire of seeing them or the gardens!
