The Jealous Gallery has a new piece on their roof’s feature wall as a part of the ongoing Jealous Rooftop Mural Project. This time the work is from the Jealous Gallery’s very own Studio Manager Adam Bridgland, whose work is fundamentally inspired by a uniquely British sense of sentimentality and draws influence from such sources as children’s colouring books, paint by number kits and old public transport posters. Permeating Bridgland’s works are an underlying sense of loss and nostalgia that inhabits our memories. with his works often tinged with a feeling of time having passed too soon, better days gone by or that our memories our gradually fading. It is with such a view that his latest work has been constructed with a pair of larger-than-life cartoon eyes gazing upon the numerous redevelopments occurring around the City of London/Shoreditch area, with parts of London’s old East End swallowed up in the process, this artwork plays witness to these events. Yet again I was fortunate enough to be let up on the roof again by the kind staff of the Jealous Gallery and capture this piece to share with you all.
