During the extreme heatwave of the summer in London, two of Penge’s most active artists over the previous nine years took to a gable end wall just off of the high street to paint this exceptional large-scale collaboration which is firstly exceptionally fun and secondly is masterfully painted. The artists being Aspire and Irony, set to paint his incredible urban nature scene worthy of any David Attenborough special, depicting a pair of city foxes fighting over a box of saveloy and chips. The piece is so harmonious in its execution that it is at a glance not immendiately visible as to which fox is done by which artist. However, the clue for those who may not recognise the finer aspects of each respective artists individual styles, the clues are in the sauce packets where Aspire (top left) and Irony (bottom right) signed the work. No two artists have contributed so much paint and creativity to SE20 over the last decade, so it was an absolute pleasure to see the two come together to paint this stunning artwork. This outstanding collaborative work can be found in Raleigh Road, Penge, and was put up with support from London Calling Blog for our community mural project SprayExhibition20.
