During the summer London received a visit from Australian street artist Sophi Odling, who whilst over painted her first London piece with a large-scale and wonderful collaboration with American born, but London based street artist Ansley Randall. This striking work is just over the border from Penge in neighbouring Beckenham and for us is without contest one of the stand out works to go up in London this year.
The work fuses each of the artist’s respective and disparate styles masterfully, which is even more impressive given the awkward viewing angle and protruding sections of wall. The piece titled ‘Flicker’ showcases Ansley Randall’s geometric abstract work – which is no stranger to this corner of London in recent years – and Sophi Odling’s figurative realism perfectly. Due to the broken up dynamic the wall offers, the artists decided to design a piece that is intentionally glitchy. Set on the busy main road, this exceptional creation completely transforms and owns the stretch of road. It is truly captivating and we are absolutely delighted that it is in our corner of the world. The stunning work below can be found on Beckenham Road, Beckenham, and was put up with support from London Calling Blog, for Spray Exhibition20.
