For our next blog post looking back at 2024, we are over to Forest Gate in East London to see an exceptional work by French born, but London based, street artist Zabou. The work features the legend that is Jimi Hendrix and was placed up as a tribute to the fact that he wrote his iconic song Purple Haze – hence the colour scheme for the background – whilst back stage at the music venue – the Upper Cut Club – that was in the 1960’s located next door to this very building the mural adorns. An excellent piece, with a subject who is one of our favourite musicians, and in acknowledgement of an incredible song, everything is a winner about this one for us. Certainly one of the best portrait artists out there and one of the busiest, Zabou is constantly somewhere new painting increasingly large-scale artworks here, there and everywhere. So it was a real treat to have this striking addition to London’s streets this year. Hopefully it won’t be too long before we are treated to fresh works from this incredibly talented artist in our city. This excellent work can be found in Woodgrange Road, Forest Gate.
