As spring arrived we made a whistlestop visit to Camden Town to see some fresh artworks, something that was long overdue and very exciting as it is amazing to see this once thriving area at the top of London’s street art scene offer a reminder of how wonderful a hub for street art it was a decade or so ago. The works in question were by street artist Irony, and should you want to see them are both in the same street. First Irony presented the third incarnation of a portrait originally placed up in 2018, with the piece getting more additions – most notably this time with the addition of the plasters, offering a brilliant metaphor for how this piece has routinely been repaired by the artist. Secondly Irony took to a new spot on a shutter of the pawnbrokers and offered continued demonstration of their excellent use of space and all so often present dry humour. In this instance by painting an excellent subject choice in the form of a close up of a magpie on the pawnbrokers premises. The superb works below can both be found in Harmood Street, Camden Town.
