New VKM Street Art around London

During the summer London was lucky to receive a visit from two exceptionally talented Australian artists, who both very much made the most of their short visit from across the other side of the world to get up all over the place. One of the artists in question was VKM, who painted a series of superb stencils and placed up some paste-ups, all based on her original photography. We were treated to a whole of host characters, be it VKM’s gorgeous Staffie placed up in a Warholesque montage,, some skaters, break dancers and some kids walking their dog. We have to say not only did VKM present an extensive range of perfectly produced stencils of entirely original subjects, she also made excellent use each space offered on our tour of SE20.

Unfortunately we only caught a few of the many works VKM placed up outside of Penge, but all the respect for how much she managed to get up on her whistlestop visit to the city. It was an absolute pleasure to have this artist come paint in London and even more so to have her come and paint in our corner of the world, we for one very much hope it isn’t to long before she returns to share some more of her captivating and well made stencils for us to enjoy further.

The works below in Penge and Anerley were placed up with support from ourselves London Calling Blog for our community mural project SprayExhibition20. We of course wish to say a massive thank you to VKM for supporting our community initiative and for leaving such a brilliant series of artworks in our corner of the world in the process. We would also like to offer a big thanks to Mr Zappa for the hookup. As well as a thank you to each of the respective property owners in SE20 for donating their spaces to our community project.

Work in Padua Road, Penge. Of all the works we saw of VKM in London, this is hands down our favourite, truly impressive to see how she made such exemplary use of this space offering a real narrative. All the more so for not being prepared for this spot in advance. If you are in Penge we highly recommend going to see this work in person as the photos don’t do it justice.
