New Alex Face Street Art Around London

Earlier this year London was lucky enough to receive a visit from Thai street artist Alex Face, who managed to hit up three superb artworks, two of which we were fortunate enough to catch and are sharing below. Of the three works placed up on his whistlestop tour of London, sadly only the one in Penge is still standing. It has been ten years since Alex Face has visited London to paint, so it was a massive treat for ourselves to not only see fresh work from this artist we have long admired and even more so to be privileged enough to host one in our home town. The works in question all feature his now iconic baby character, whom he began painting some 14 years ago after the birth of his daughter, who became the inspiration for this character who has now been painted the world over. Her cautious gaze allowed the artist to explore social and global themes that concerned him regarding the world she was growing up in, and she is often depicted disguised as a bunny or as a totem, characterised by three sleepy and ironic eye – as in the work placed up in Penge – set observing the viewer and conveying a profound sense of weary vulnerability.

The work below in Penge were placed up with support from ourselves London Calling Blog. We of course wish to say a big thank you to the generous space owner, who kindly donated a spot and trusted us to work it.  As well as a massive thank you to Alex Face for supporting this community initiative we involve ourselves with and for leaving such a captivating artwork in the process.
