Zabou was out yet again painting two days ago in the East End, taking on a set of double shutters for her newest work. The piece is entitled ‘Smile!…Idiots’, and is very much in keeping with the style of humour Zabou often places into her works. The piece mocks the rise of ‘selfie’ culture and is inspired by the ever increasing tendency by many to just display their own vanity by posting picture after picture of nothing but selfies. We love the little addition of the banana on the phone. This piece certainly brightens up the little shop front at the top of Hackney Road and is also a nice follow up to a similar themed piece entitled ‘Dis-Connected’ painted in Camden at the end of 2014 and still standing.
